Job Description

SOC Tier 1 (L1) Roles & Responsibilities

1.Real Time 24×7 Monitoring & Response

oMonitor SIEM alerts and dashboards in real time for potential security incidents.

oRespond to incidents promptly via email, phone, or other communication channels based on predefined procedures.

2.Event Categorization & Triage

oCategorize incoming alerts and events according to severity, providing initial triage to identify potential incidents.

oPerform initial investigation to determine whether the alert is a true positive or false positive.

3.Escalation to Higher Tiers

oEscalate unresolved or high severity incidents to Tier 2 or Tier 3 based on escalation policies.

oProvide sufficient information and context for the escalation process.

4.Reporting & Documentation

oDocument all alerts, investigations, and escalations in the incident management system.

oProvide initial daily/weekly/monthly security reports, outlining key metrics and incident trends.

5.Incident Response Procedures

oFollow established incident response procedures for low level incidents and escalate complex incidents as needed.

oProvide support in breach response and investigations based on predefined SOPs.

6.Use Case Recommendations

oObserve traffic and alert trends to make recommendations for potential use case improvements based on client environment.
