Job Description
What is a Machinist? A machinist operates computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools, such as lathes and milling machines, to cut and produce precision parts for machines, instruments, and tools. Machinists repair or produce parts using both manual and automated equipment with precise measurements.
Here are the key responsibilities of a Machinist:
- Assist mechanical engineers and supervisors with maintenance tasks.
- Install and perform diagnostic tests on mechanical systems.
- Assist in developing and implementing mechanical maintenance plans to prevent costly equipment breakdown.
- Troubleshoot mechanical malfunctions and breakdowns, as well as perform repairs.
- Document processes and maintain mechanical service records.
- Assist in monitoring the availability of spare parts.
- Able to operate Lathe and Milling Machine.
- Maintain a tidy work environment and adhere to industry regulations.
- Conduct inspections, replace old wiring, and perform maintenance tasks to prevent system breakdown and maximize electrical usability.
- Prevent breakdown of systems by routinely inspecting and replacing old wiring and insulated cables, cleaning circuits, etc.
- Perform effective troubleshooting to identify hazards or malfunctions and repair or substitute damaged units.
